The Spirit Commissioner shall be responsible for promoting school spirit, and organizing spirit activities such as Spirit Week, Homecoming, pep assemblies, intramurals, class competitions, and anything else they deem necessary to create a spirited atmosphere. He/She will work with the Sportsmanship Commissioner to promote sportsmanship through school spirit. He/She will also be responsible for working with the Spirit Committee in the Student Council. Must be comfortable working with "Superfans."
Duties of Assembly Coordinator
The Assembly Coordinator organizes and plans all of the Assemblies through out their term of office. He/ She will also be responsible for all aspects dealing with Assemblies and will work with the Social Coordinator on the Events Committee in Student Senate to organize assembly ideas. Not necessary to be well versed in public speaking.
Duties of Social Coordinator
The Social Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of school dances, and other social activities that the school sponsors. He/She will work with the Assembly Coordinator on the Events Committee in Student Senate as well as other clubs that deal with the social aspects of Summit High School.
Duties of Sportsmanship Commissioner
The Sportsmanship Commissioner helps to promote sports, and sport related activities. He/She shall keep the atmosphere positive when Summit High School is competing against other schools in sporting or other club events. He/She will work closely with the Spirit Commissioner to maintain a positive atmosphere during assemblies and intramural activities at Summit High School. He/She will be responsible for developing a sportsmanship program by working with the Athletic Director. Must be comfortable working with the "Superfans."
Duties of Community Service Coordinator
The Community Service Coordinator organizes and sponsors all Community Service events that involve Summit High School. He/She will keep a record of all community service projects that clubs are involved in, and disperse community service opportunities to interested clubs. He/ She will keep updated, a bulletin board that displays community service opportunities and will work with members of the Central Oregon community. He/She will present upcoming Community Service opportunities to the Student Senate when necessary, and will also work with the Community Service Committee in Student Senate to promote and plan community service events.
The Recognition Commissioner is responsible for organizing student awards and recognition of talents and hard work of the students and staff of Summit High School. The recognitions include Academics, Sports, Drama, the Arts, clubs and other activities that Summit High School students and staff are involved in. He/She will be responsible for making sure letters and/or notes of appreciation are sent to those who support Student council projects. He/She will be working with the School Décor Committee in Student Senate to ensure that these organizations are recognized in a more permanent manner.
Duties of the Link Crew Commissioner
The Link Crew Commissioner well be responsible for helping to organize Freshman Orientation Day. He/she will work closely with Staff Link Crew advisors during the spring training process, leading the education of new Link Crew leaders. The program is already created, and must follow certain guidelines given. He/she must have had prior experience of being a Link Crew Leader. During the year he/she will be responsible for creating follow up activities with the freshmen. Duties will also include creating monthly activities for new students from grades 9-12 who enter the school. He/she will also assist the Recognition Commissioner when help is needed, and will be responsible for helping to organize freshmen events and/or activities with the Freshman Committee in Student Senate.
Duties of Technical Support
The Technical Support is a position where skill is highly required. This person must know, or be willing to learn, how to work the sound system in both the Auditorium and the Gym. He/She will be required to set up any sort of technology that will be needed for projects and programs throughout the year. Knowledge on how projectors, microphones, lights and sound boards work is essential. He/She needs to be familiar with the light board in the Auditorium. He/She is also responsible for working on the Student Council Website.
Duties of the Class Representatives
Class representatives are responsible for keeping their class involved with school activities. They will work with commissioners in the Legislative and Judicial Branches. They are chosen from and represent their own graduating class as a whole, and are expected to inform their class on major decisions made in Student Council. They will also work on various committees to assure completion of Student Council sponsored activities. They also need to be active in the development of a new-student welcoming program that shall be overseen by the Link Crew Commissioner. One representative from each class will work with the Class Traditions Committee in the Student Senate in order to create traditions for either their class and/or school as a whole. One Junior/Senior Representative will also work with the Senior Committee to create pride amongst the senior class.
