Duties of Executive Office Positions

Duties of President

The President shall preside over all the meetings of the Student Council, the Student Senate, the Executive Council, and shall perform all other duties pertaining to that office. The President will be responsible for organizing and preparing agendas and other aspects of these meetings. He/She shall have authority to fill vacancies with the advice and consent of the Student Council until an election can be held and to appoint a temporary officer due to the absence of any regular officer. He/She is also responsible for duties pertaining to the Constitution and is required to attend the regular meetings of the Site Council.

Duties of Vice President

The Vice President shall be the second in command at Student Council, Student Senate, and Executive Council meetings. He/She shall be second only to the President in authority. In the absence of the President, the Vice President shall assume the duties of the President. He/She is responsible for the next year’s ASB and Class Elections. He/She also serves as the Treasurer. He/She assumes the duties of managing the Student Council funds, which includes those of the Mr. Thunder Pageant. He/She shall keep a neat and accurate record which shall be available at all Student Council, Student Senate, and Executive Council meetings or whenever called upon.

Duties of Secretary

The Secretary shall keep accurate record of the Student Council, Student Senate, and Executive Council meetings. He/She shall present the minutes whenever called upon to do so. He/She shall be responsible for distributions of Student Council and Student Senate minutes to members, roll call at meeting, correspondence, and records of representatives and for keeping records of representative evaluations. Access to any of this can be obtained through the advisor.

Duties of Public Relations

The Public Relations officer shall report the activities of the board to the Student Council and the activities of the Student Body to the Site Council. He/She shall be the liaison between Summit High School and the District, the School Board, and the city of Bend. As deemed necessary, he/she will submit an article to the Summit Storm Newspaper concerning student activities. He/She shall submit monthly articles to the school’s newsletter. He/She will be the primary coordinator of the Mr. Thunder pageant. He/She is also responsible for working with the PR / Posters Committee for advertisement of upcoming events and/or activities.

Duties of the Link Crew Commissioner

The Link Crew Commissioner well be responsible for helping to organize Freshman Orientation Day. He/she will work closely with Staff Link Crew advisors during the spring training process, leading the education of new Link Crew leaders. The program is already created, and must follow certain guidelines given. He/she must have had prior experience of being a Link Crew Leader. During the year he/she will be responsible for creating follow up activities with the freshmen. Duties will also include creating monthly activities for new students from grades 9-12 who enter the school. He/she will also assist the Recognition Commissioner when help is needed, and will be responsible for helping to organize freshmen events and/or activities with the Freshman Committee in Student Senate.
